Course Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. It applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a workplace or community setting.
Course Content
This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to handle cardiac emergency situations. It includes:
+ Introduction to first aid principles
+ Assessing a cardiac emergency situation + Airway and breathing management
+ Performing chest compressions
+ Administering rescue breaths
+ Infection control procedures + Resuscitation techniques
+ Using a defibrillator (AED)
+ AED maintenance
Duration
2 hours face-to-face training and assessment with 1 hour of online/workbook pre-work OR
3 hours face-to-face with classroom/workplace training and assessment
Materials
Online materials will be provided prior to commencement of the session
All other material will be provided on the day

Course Overview
Also known as Level 2 (Senior) First Aid, which can be delivered as a 1 or 2 day course. Provide First Aid has been created to develop a student's awareness of emergency treatment. This course equips the learner to provide sufficient care until further resources are available. We ensure you will leave confident in your ability to assess a casualty, provide basic life support and implement decision making skills. No previous learning is required to participate in this course.
Course Content
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Topics include:
+ Assessing an emergency situation
+ Airway and breathing management, including choking and drowning + CPR techniques, defibrillation and AED safety and maintenance
+ First Aid management of the unconscious casualty
+ Medical conditions including cardiac, stroke, diabetes & seizures
+ Asthma, allergy and anaphylaxis
+ Contents of First Aid kits
+ Infection control and First Aid for minor wounds
+ Control of major external bleeding and shock
+ Hyperthermia and hypothermia
+ Venomous bites and stings
+ Poisons
+ Burns
+ Eye injuries
+ Soft tissue injuries
+ Dislocations and fracture management
+ Head, neck and spinal injuries
+ Incident reports
+ Debriefing and review of critical incidents
Duration
7 hours face-to-face classroom or workplace training & assessment with 5 hours online or workbook pre-work

Course Overview
This course has been developed for educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to First Aid Emergencies. Previously 3 separate courses were required to be undertaken, however HLTAID012 provides all competencies through an informative one day course.
The course covers a range of First Aid management contextualized to children.
